ORDER

This writ petition is filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to provide necessary and adequate police protection to the petitioner, his wife and his relatives.

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents.

It is seen that the petitioner belongs to Dalit community; he was in love with one P. Pandiselvi, an upper caste girl and they got married on 26.05.2016, but, they are living in hiding, in fear of reprisal by the family members of Pandiselvi.

Under such circumstances, the petitioner is directed to appear before the Superintendent of Police, Ariyalur District and lodge a complaint and on lodging of such a https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

complaint by the petitioner, the Superintendent of Police, Ariyalur District, is directed to provide sufficient protection to the petitioner and his wife, in compliance of the law, laid down by the Supreme Court in Lata Singh vs. State of Uttar Pradesh, (2006) 5 SCC 475 and ensure that no harm befalls them.

The writ petition stands disposed of with the above directions. No costs. Connected W.M.P. is closed.
