ORDER

The petitioner has come forward with this Writ Petition praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent to remove the illegal water connections at Kudimiyan Street, Siruthapuram (P.O), Salem Taluk, Salem District-636 307.

When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that illegal water connections have been removed in Ward No.22, Kudimiyan Street, Siruthapuram (P.O), Salem Taluk, Salem District-636 307 on 28.12.2016. Once again, the residents of the said locality laid the illegal water connections and when the same was attempted to remove by the respondent, there was strong objections by the public and hence they could not remove the pipe line laid for taking water through illegal connection.

3. In fact, on 09.12.2016, there was communication to the petitioner that illegal water connection would be identified and disconnected. Taking note of the request made by the Assistant Commissioner, Salem to the Inspector of Police, Kondalampatty, on 28.12.2016, the police officials are expected to give necessary protection in order to enable the Corporation to https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

remove the illegal water connection.

4. The learned counsel for the respondent submitted that if any police protection is given, the Corporation would identify the residences in which the water connection is laid illegally and disconnect the same.

5. In view of the above submission made by the learned counsel respondent, the Inspector of Police, Kondalampatty Police Station shall give necessary police protection for removing the illegal water connection in the said locality. Hence, the writ petition is disposed of. The identification of the illegal water connections shall be completed by the authority concerned within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and based on such identification, the respondent shall disconnect the illegal connections forthwith. No costs.
