... Respondents Prayer:

Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to carry out necessary corrections in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (S.L. No.SEC6388116) of the petitioner's son by correcting his name as "S.VIGNESH'' in the said certificate.

For Petitioner : Mr.P.Jagadeesan For Respondents : Mr.T.M.Pappiah (for R1 to R3) Special Government Pleader

O R D E R

The petitioner's son's name is S.Vignesh and the petitioner's name is A.Subramaniam. At the time of admission of Vignesh into school, the petitioner was abroad. Hence, the petitioner's elder brother admitted S.Vignesh in school and by mistake, gave the initial wrongly as M.Vignesh. 2.The petitioner's son has already successfully completed S.S.L.C., course and he is studying in 12th standard in the 5th respondent school. The petitioner's son's Birth Certificate, Community Certificate, and Aadhar Card correctly reflect the petitioner's son's initial as S.Vignesh but in school records only, it is wrongly mentioned as M.Vignesh.

3.Therefore, the petitioner's wife gave a representation on 11.09.2017 requesting respondents 1 to 4, to correct the mistake in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate. The 5th respondent/Head Master informed the petitioner that since the petitioner's son has to write examination in March 2018, necessary corrections have to be made before the end of the October 2017. Therefore, the petitioner has come before this court.

4.Heard, Mr.P.Jagadeesan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.T.M.Pappiah, learned Special Government Pleader, appearing for the respondents 1 to 3. 5.Even as per the rules, any correction in name, initial and date of birth has to be made before completing the school studies. It is evident from the Birth Certificate dated 12.09.2016, Community Certificate dated 02.01.2017 and Aadhar card that the correct initial of the petitioner's son is 'S' and his full correct name is S.Vignesh. Therefore, the wrong initial namely 'M' has to be deleted and 'S' has to be substituted in that place. Therefore, the claim of the petitioner seems to be bonafide as the claim is supported by the required documents. Therefore, the respondents 1 to 3 are directed to correct the initial of the petitioner's son Vignesh as "S" instead of "M" within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above direction this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
