ORDER

The present criminal original petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent police to file a final report in Crime No.26 of 2014 pending on his file within four weeks or within a time limit stipulated by this Court.

2. In the petition, it is averred that earlier the petitioner had given a complaint to the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai on 28.2.2013 against one Sengappa and others, who are the residents of various places in Bangalore for having cheated him to the tune of Rs.10,00,000/-. Since no action was taken on the said complaint, the petitioner approached this Court by filing a petition in Crl.O.P.No.8998 of 2013 and this Court, by order dated 5.8.2013 allowed the said petition. Pursuant to the said order, the respondent police registered a case in Crime No.26 of 2014 for the offence under Section 420 I.P.C. But, even after a lapse of 1/1-2 years, the respondent police has not taken any action on the said complaint. Hence, the present petition.

3. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor has submitted that the entire allegation made in the complaint is said to have been committed at Bangalore and not in Chennai.

4. However, irrespective of the submissions made by both sides, this Court directs the respondent police to investigate the case in Crime No.26 of 2014 pending on his file and file a final report as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The Criminal Original Petition is ordered accordingly.
