ORDER
[made by HEMANT CHANDANGOUDAR, J.] The petitioner has approached this Court by way of the present writ petition, seeking the issuance of a writ of mandamus to restrain the official respondents from granting a residential patta in favour of the private respondents, namely respondents 5 and 6, in respect of Survey Field No. 286/1, situated in Pinnathur Village, Parangipettai Panchayat, Chidambaram Taluk. The petitioner contends that such Page Nos.2/6
action is proposed under the "Regularisation of Residential Encroachments and Issuance of Free House Site Patta Scheme," as per Government Order (Ms.) No. 97, issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department [LD-1(1)] dated 21.02.2025.
2. The petitioner claims to be the owner of land adjacent to S.F. No. 286/1 in Pinnathur Village. It is his grievance that the grant of patta in favour of respondents 5 and 6 in respect of the said survey number would adversely affect his agricultural operations. Specifically, he asserts that it would impede both the cultivation process and the transportation of agricultural produce from his adjoining property.
3. Mr. K. Suresh, learned Government Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of respondents 1 to 3. Mr. P. Kumaravel, learned Additional Government Pleader, accepts notice on behalf of the fourth respondent.
4. The learned Government Advocate, upon instructions from the competent authority-namely, the Sub Collector, Chidambaramsubmitted that a decision has been taken not to grant patta in respect of the land situated in S.F. No. 286/1, Pinnathur Village, Parangipettai Panchayat, Chidambaram Taluk. It is further submitted that the application made by the private respondents for the grant of patta will instead be considered in relation to land situated in a different village.

Without delving into or making any determination regarding the question of whether the petitioner possesses the requisite locus standi to maintain the present writ petition-and expressly leaving that issue open for consideration in any appropriate future proceeding-this writ petition stands disposed of in light of the submission recorded above. Consequently, the connected Writ Miscellaneous Petition stands closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
