The petitioner herein seeks a direction to the respondents to conduct a peace committee meeting with reasonable opportunity to the residents of Thaiyur Panchayat before implementing Jal Jeeven Mission Joint Drinking Water Scheme in Thaiyur Panchayat.

2. According to the petitioner as a part of Jal Jeeven Mission Joint Drinking Water Scheme, the respondents are planning to put up 10 Wells in the water bodies in the Thaiyur Panchayat for the purpose of taking water to the nearby Panchayat. The Thaiyur Grama Saba passed a resolution on 30.04.2023 opposing the plan, and in this connection, the petitioner made a representation to the third respondent and other officials on 08.04.2023 requesting the authorities to implement the Jal Jeeven Mission Joint Drinking Water Scheme after taking into consideration, the requirements of the local population. The said representation has not been considered by the third respondent.
3. In view of the limited grievance expressed by the petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court is inclined to issue a direction to the third respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 08.04.2023 on merits and in accordance with law and pass final orders, after giving the sufficient opportunity to the petitioner, within a period of 8 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/4
