The instant writ petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a Mandamus, to direct the respondent herein to settle a sum of Rs.5,15,549/- to the 1st petitioner herein, Rs.3,43,480/- to the 2nd petitioner herein and Rs.4,32,760/- to the 3rd petitioner herein, towards 6% interest for the belated settlement of Terminal Benefits, by considering the joint representation of the petitioners given in person on 12.03.2025.

It is the case of the petitioners is that the petitioners served in the Respondent-Transport Corporation for nearly 35, 30 and 31 years of unblemished service respectively and retired as Senior Superintendent and Superintendent on 31.05.2023 respectively. The learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that though they retired from service during 2023, their terminal benefits were paid only from March-2025, after lapse of 21 months. However, no interest was paid for the above period. In view of the 2/6
same, the petitioners submitted a joint representation dated 12.03.2025 to the respondent to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered by the respondent, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

The learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondent would fairly admits that in view of the similar orders passed by this Court in W.P.Nos. 40031, 33742 and 35806 of 2024, they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.
4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum, from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits to the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 3/6
