PRAYER: Petition filed under article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a writ of mandamus, directing the respondent to grant permission for holding One Day Token Fasting Demonstration on 05.07.2017 from 8.00 a.m. To 5.00 p.m., near Government Guest House, Chepauk, Chennai, or at any other location.

Mr.D.Vairamoorthy, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice on behalf of the respondent and by consent of both the counsel, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner, who sought for permission for granting one day token fasting demonstration on 05.07.2017 from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., has filed the present writ petition in view of the inaction on the part of the respondent/police to consider his representation.

3. Today, when the writ petition is taken up for consideration, the learned Special Government Pleader submitted that the respondent is willing to permit the petitioner for demonstration instead of fasting for 500 or less persons. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

4. In this background, it would be appropriate that the respondent be directed to pass necessary orders by today itself on the petitioner's representation dated 14.06.2017. The respondent would also be at liberty to impose conditions while granting such permission.

5. With the above observations and directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of.

Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is also closed.
