..Respondents Prayer: The writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of Mandamus, directing the Managing Director, Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation Limited, No.2, Pallavan Salai, Chennai-600 002, the first respondent herein to implement the award passed in I.D.No.546 of 2003 dated 31.07.2009 and consequently direct the first respondent to pay the monetary benefits with interest @ 24% p.a., from the date of the award till the date of payment. O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of writ of Mandamus, directing the Managing Director, Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation Limited, No.2, Pallavan Salai, Chennai-600 002, the first respondent herein to implement the award passed in I.D.No.546 of 2003 dated 31.07.2009 and consequently direct the first respondent to pay the monetary benefits with interest @ 24% p.a., from the date of the award till the date of payment.

2.Heard M/s.S.S.Jothivani, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.P.Paramasivadoss, learned counsel appearing for the first respondent.

3.Though an award was passed in I.D.No.546 of 2003 dated 31.07.2009, the same has not been implemented till date. On a query, the learned counsel appearing for the first respondent would submit that the said award has become final as there was no challenge made.

4.Once an award is passed, it becomes a right accrued in favour of the employee who obtained the same. In such view of the matter, a direction is issued to the first respondent to give effect to the award dated 31.07.2009 in I.D.No.546 of 2003 within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
