By consent of learned counsel on both sides, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. 1/4

2. The present writ petition petition is filed praying for a writ of mandamus to direct the 3rd respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 24.01.2025 for grant of Grama Natham patta in respect of the subject property.

It is submitted by the learned counsel for petitioner that the property situated in Old No.148, New No.48, Bajanai Kovil Street, Padi, Chennai-600 050, measuring an extent of 7 cents comprised in Survey No.338 belongs to petitioner's husband Mr.Thangaraj and his brothers Mr.Govindhan and Mr.Veerarahavan, bearing joint patta in Patta No.7. On 24.11.1974, petitioner's husband and his brothers entered into a partition, in which "C" schedule property to an extent of 1930 sq.feet was allotted to the petitioner's husband and the same was registered as Document No.2297/2002 on the file of Sub-Registrar, Villivakkam. It is further submitted that the petitioner has submitted a representation on 24.01.2025 to the respondents to grant Grama Natham patta in respect of the subject property. Further, the 1st respondent has forwarded the representation to the 3rd respondent, however no action has been taken on the said representation till date.

4. At the outset, Mr.P.Sathish, learned Additional Government Pleader for 2/4

respondents on instructions would submit that the representation of the petitioner dated 24.01.2025 for grant of Grama natham patta in respect of the subject property was made to the District Collector, who in turn has forwarded the same to the Tahsildar. He would further submit that appropriate orders would be passed within a period of 8 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording the petitioner an opportunity of hearing, which was agreed to by the learned counsel for petitioner.

In view thereof, this writ petition stands disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider the representation dated 24.01.2025 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, after affording reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested persons/stake holders, within a period of 8 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any views with regard to the merits of the representation and it is open to the concerned respondent to consider the representation on its own merits and in accordance with law. No costs.
