ORDER

The petitioner has preferred the present Criminal Revision challenging the judgment passed by the learned Judicial Magistrate No.II, Perambalur, in Crl.MP.No.806 of 2025 in Crime No.493 of 2021 dated 23.01.2026.

The case of the prosecution is that on 02.08.2021 at about 8.30 p.m, due to previous enmity, between the petitioner and the defacto complainant's family, during the course of a quarrel, the petitioner abused and assaulted him with hands, thereby causing injuries. Hence, the case has been registered.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner sought discharge based on the delay in filing the charge sheet by referring to limitation under Section 468(2) of Cr.P.C.

4. Per contra, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) submitted that the punishment prescribed for Section 506(ii) IPC is seven years and, therefore, Section 468(2) Cr.P.C. is not applicable to the present case. He further submitted that the charge sheet would be filed within a reasonable time.

5. I have given my anxious consideration to the submissions made on either side.

6. In view of the above submissions, though this Court does not find any merits in the present revision, it would like to direct the respondent to file the charge sheet within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order, as the case pertains to a crime of the year 2021.
