ORDER

This writ petition has been filed praying for direction to the second respondent to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner and the officials of the electricity board while providing electricity service connection to the petitioner on the complaint dated 10.03.2026. 2.

The petitioner had purchased the property situated at 10/318, Periya Veeranam, Mariamman Koil Backside, Veeranam, Salem comprised in survey No.140(9)B to an extent of 7 cents by the registered sale deed dated 21.06.2000 registered vide document No.1654 of 2000. Thereafter, he put up a construction and applied for electricity service connection. However, the third respondent who is a neighbour of the said property objected to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's house. Further, on perusal of the communication from the Assistant Engineer (Operation & Maintenance), TANGEDO, Veeranam by its communication dated 07.02.2026 stated that the third respondent raised objections to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's house. Therefore, the Assistant Engineer informed the petitioner that with the aid of the police, electricity service connection will be provided to the petitioner's house. Therefore, the petitioner lodged complaint seeking police protection.

3.

The learned counsel for the third respondent submitted that though the petitioner purchased the subject land in the year 2000, he changed patta only in the year 2026 and he is in possession of the said property. However, the third respondent did not produce any document to show that he is claiming title over the property though he filed suit for declaration of the sale deed executed in favour of the petitioner as null and void. It is also revealed from the communication from the Assistant Engineer (Operation & Maintenance), TANGEDO, Veeranam. 4.

In view of the above, the second respondent is directed to provide adequate police protection to the employees of the electricity board while providing electricity service connection to the petitioner for the premises situated at 10/318, Periya Veeranam, Mariamman Koil Backside, Veeranam, Salem forthwith.

5.

With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
