The instant writ petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a Mandamus, to direct the respondent to dispose the appeal preferred by the 1/5
petitioner dated 22.08.2024 by considering the judgement dated 24.09.2018 passed in C.C.No.296 of 2013 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate, Aranthangi.
2. The limited prayer sought by the petitioner is for an earlier disposal of the appeal preferred against the punishment imposed by the disciplinary authority.
3. It is the submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner that, pursuant to a Charge Memorandum, a punishment was imposed on the petitioner dated 27.2.2013, withholding his increment with cumulative effect for a period of three years.

It is the further submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner that the charge on the basis of which the said punishment was imposed is directly related to the charge framed in C.C.No.296 of 2013 before the Criminal Court. However, after a full-fledged trial, the Criminal Court has acquitted the petitioner from all charges.

5. In such view of the matter, the learned counsel for the petitioner would seeks that the petitioner's appeal which is pending before the Appellate Authority has to be disposed of within a reasonable time.
6. The learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondent would submit that the petitioner's appeal will be disposed of within a reasonable time.
7. In view of the above submission, this Court without going into the merits of the matter, deems it appropriate to direct the respondent to consider the petitioner's appeal dated 22.08.2024, and pass order on it's own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
