ORDER
This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 3 rd respondent to cancel the settlement deed in Doc.No.171/2022 dated 19.01.2022, executed by the petitioner and her husband in favor of the 6 th respondent by completing the enquiry of the 3 rd respondent's proceeding in Na.Ka.No.874/2025/A4 dated 14.03.2025.

2. The Petitioner and her late husband were allotted a house by the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board in 2008, at Dr.Ambedkar Nagar, Kolathur. They have two sons and a daughter, the 6 th Respondent, herein. In 2022, based on the assurances of the 6 th respondent that, she would take care of them, the Petitioner and her husband executed a settlement deed on 19.01.2022 in her favour. After the transfer, the petitioner claims that her daughter and her son-inlaw ill treated her by denying her basic needs and further forced her to convert her religion. The Petitioner therefore left the house and returned to her native place. After her husband's death in 2023, the petitioner's situation worsened, constraining her to seek cancellation of the settlement deed, by invoking Section 23(1) of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. The petitioner states that she sent representations to the authorities on 15.02.2025 and 03.04.2025, but no effective action was taken. Hence she filed the writ petition for the aforesaid relief. 3/6
3. Learned Government Advocate appearing for R2 to R5 submits that an enquiry is already commenced by the 3 rd respondent and that further time would be needed to complete the enquiry. He further submits that the next date of hearing is on 02.07.2025.
4. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record. With Consent of both the counsels main writ petition is taken up for final disposal.
5. Without going into the merits of the case, the third respondent is directed to conclude the enquiry proceeding in Na.Ka.No.874/2025/A4 dated 14.03.2025, and pass order on merits and in accordance with law within a period of two months, from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. In the result, the writ petition stands disposed of with the above observations and direction. No costs.
