This Court, by an order dated 02.06.2022, permitted the Convict Prisoner, namely, Mani @ Manikandan (Convict No.4954) to go on emergency leave from 07.06.2022 to 13.06.2022.

2. It is represented by the learned Public Prosecutor (Puducherry) that the Convict Prisoner, after expiry of leave period, has surrendered on 14.06.2022.

3. The relief sought for in this petition, viz., extension of leave for further period of 20 days, cannot be acceded to, mainly on the reason that the extension of leave for 20 days from 14.06.2022 has already expired. Moreover, it is not known as to why the Convict Prisoner, instead of filing a fresh Petition for leave, has chosen to file the present Miscellaneous Petition.

4. In fine, this Petition is closed with the observation that in case any fresh application is filed by the Convict Prisoner, it is open to the concerned Respondents to consider whether leave can be granted or not.
