ORDER

The present criminal original petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking a direction to the respondent not to harass them under the guise of enquiry with regard to the whereabouts of their son Venkatesh following the complaint given by the de facto complainant.

2. In the petition, it is stated that the petitioners' son Venkatesh is alleged to have eloped with one Prabha living in neighbourhood. Hence, a complaint was lodged by the father of said Prabha with the respondent police. Subsequently, for the past ten days, the petitioners are being harassed by the respondent police under the guise of enquiry with regard to the whereabouts of their son. 3. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that only for the purpose of enquiry, the petitioners were called by the respondent police and absolutely, there is no harassment and in order to avoid enquiry, the petitioners have filed the present petition.

4. Considering the submissions made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Court is constrained to pass the following order:- (i) The petitioners are directed to cooperate with the enquiry.

(ii) The respondent police is directed to conduct the enquiry in accordance with law, without harassing the petitioners.

5. The criminal original petition is ordered accordingly.
