O R D E R

The relief sought for in this writ petition is to quash the impugned order of the 2nd respondent in Na.Ka. No. 2282/17/E2 dated 14.05.2018 and consequently direct the respondents to pass orders for renewal of lease for a further period of three years in respect of premises situated in Old Panchayat Building, Royakottai, Thenkani Kottai Panchayat Union, 2.

Mr. V. Jayaprakash Narayanan, the learned Special Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was allotted a shop in the Old Panchayat Building at Royakottai, through tender. Since the tenure of tender expires on 31.05.2018, the petitioner has submitted a representation dated 18.05.2018 seeking to extend the tender period for further one year, till 31.05.2019. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite her willingness to pay the enhanced rent as per G.O. No.277 of 2001 dated 22.11.2001, the second respondent has issued the impugned notice dated 14.05.2018.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that direction may be given to the 2nd respondent to consider and dispose of her representation dated 18.05.2018 on merits.

5. Considering the limited scope of prayer sought by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the second respondent is directed to consider the representation dated 18.05.2018, submitted by the petitioner and pass orders on merits, in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be an order of status quo till then.

6. The Writ Petition is disposed of, with the above directions. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. No order as to costs.
