Criminal Original Petition is filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C. to direct the respondent to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner Sangam by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 02.05.2019 at the time of election to be held on 15.05.2019 to elect office bearers of Chennai Koyambedu Malar Motha Vyabarigal Sangam (Regd.No.137/2008), having office at No.FC-118, FC-119, Kamarajar Malar Angadi, Koyambedu, Chennai 600 107. ORDER
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking for police protection to conduct the election of the petitioner Sangam, which is scheduled to be held on 15.05.2019. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner Sangam submitted that the Sangam has been functioning from the year 2008 onwards and there are more than 688 members. On 15.05.2019, the elections are going to be held for choosing the office bearers and therefore, a representation was made before the respondent seeking for police protection at the time of conducting election. The learned counsel submitted that the representation was given on 02.05.2019 in person.
3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor on instructions submitted that the representation has been received by the respondent police.
4. Considering the limited relief sought for by the petitioner, the respondent police is directed to consider the representation dated 02.05.2019 and take an appropriate decision to grant police protection at the time of election to be held on 15.05.2019 between 8.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. It is made clear that the petitioner shall pay the necessary charges for the purpose of seeking police protection.
5. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
