Respondents Prayer: Writ petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus direct the Respondents to provide flood relief to the petitioner in the light of the proposal made by the 2nd respondent to the first respondent vide proceedings No.Na.Kaa.1/8511/2016 dated 30.03.2017 pursuant to the petitioner representation dated 04.04.2016.

Mr.P.V.Selvakumar, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents.

The petitioner seeks for a mandamus directing the respondents to provide flood relief fund to the petitioner in the light of the proposal made by the 2nd respondent to the 1st respondent by proceedings dated 30.03.2017, based on the representation of the petitioner dated 04.04.2016. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

The grievance of the petitioner is that the Flood Relief Fund payable to the petitioner due to the death of her husband, namely one Arumgam, Son of Kuppusamy, Adidravidar Colony, Siru village, Panruti Taluk, who has lost his life in the flood, has not been paid to the petitioner so far even though the 2nd respondent through proceedings dated 30.03.2017 recommended for making such payment to the petitioner.

4. A perusal of the said proceedings of the 2nd respondent indicated that he has requested the 1st respondent to provide the said relief fund to the petitioner and others. Therefore, it is for the 1st respondent to consider the request of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders without further loss of time.

Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the 1st respondent to consider the request of the petitioner for grant of Flood Relief Fund as has been recommended by the 2nd respondent as stated supra. Such exercise shall be done by the 2nd respondent within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
