PETITION under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 10.3.2025 to register the petitioner's birth and issue birth certificate to the petitioner by the respondent within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed praying for a direction to the 1/4

respondent to deal with the representation dated 10.3.2025 wherein the petitioner is seeking for registration of his date of birth as 03.7.1989 and to issue a birth certificate to him.

2. Mr.D.B.R.Prabhu, learned Standing Counsel accepts notice for the respondent. Heard both.

3. The specific case of the petitioner is that he has a twin brother by name P.Kajan Bert, that they were born on 03.7.1989, that his twin brother obtained a birth certificate from the respondent and that their birth was not registered immediately as their parents are illiterates.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner has relied upon the 10th Standard Mark Sheet of the petitioner wherein the date of birth of the petitioner has been mentioned as 03.7.1989.

5. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite making a representation dated 10.3.2025 to the respondent seeking for a birth certificate, the same has not been acted upon and hence, the above 2/4

writ petition has been filed before this Court.

6. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and perusing the materials placed before this Court, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to act upon the said representation of the petitioner dated 10.3.2025 and take a decision within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
