Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a writ of Mandamus directing the third respondent to pass orders on the stay petition dated 15 June 2015 in the Appeal dated 15 June 2015 filed by the petitioner before the third respondent and to grant ad interim stay till then and also to dispose of the appeal dated 15 June 2015 as expeditiously as possible.

Sakthivel Government Advocate COMMON ORDER (Order of the Court was made by K.K.SASIDHARAN, J) The petitioners have challenged the eviction orders passed by the Tahsildar, Chengalpattu before the District Collector, Kancheepuram invoking Section 10-B of the Tamil Nadu Land Encroachment Act, 1905. Since stay petitions filed along with the appeals were not taken up for hearing, the petitioners have come up with these writ petitions to direct the District Collector to take up either the appeals or stay petitions as expeditiously as possible.
2. When the writ petitions came up for admission on 7 September 2005, we have directed the learned Government Advocate to take instructions from the District Collector with regard to the time required for disposal of either the stay petitions or statutory appeals.
3. When the writ petitions are taken up for consideration today, learned Government Advocate on instructions submitted that the appeals would be disposed of by the District Collector within a period of three weeks.
4. Since the appellate authority has agreed to dispose of the matters as expeditiously as possible, we are not inclined to consider the merits of the matter.
5. The third respondent is directed to dispose of the appeals within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. Status quo as on 7 September 2015 shall be maintained till the disposal of appeals.
7. The writ petitions are disposed of with the above direction. Consequently the connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. No costs.
