The present Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to quash the proceedings in C.C.No.2357 of 2021, on the file of the Metropolitan Magistrate, Fast Track Court - II, Chennai. 2.
Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

Learned counsel appearing on either side submitted that when the matter was taken up on 28.02.2025, this Court referred the matter to mediation. Pursuant thereto, the parties appeared before the Tamil Nadu Mediation & Conciliation Centre, wherein, they have compromised the matter and amicably settled the issue between themselves. A Joint Compromise Memo to that effect has also been filed. Hence, they seek to quash the proceedings pending against the petitioner. 4.

In view of the fact that the parties have amicably settled the dispute between themselves before the Tamil Nadu Mediation & Conciliation Centre, and as the offence in question itself is compoundable under Section 147 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, no useful purpose would be served in continuing with the proceedings. Therefore, this Court is inclined to quash the proceedings pending against the petitioner in 6/8
C.C.No.2357 of 2021, in exercise of its jurisdiction under Section 482 Cr.P.C./Section 528 BNSS.

Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands allowed and the proceedings in C.C.No.2357 of 2021 pending on the file of the Metropolitan Magistrate, Fast Track Court - II, Chennai, is quashed. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. 7.
The Mediation Report and the Joint Memo of Compromise filed by the petitioner and the respondent for compromising the offence shall form part of the records.
