ORDER

The writ petition is filed for a Writ of Mandamus directing the 2nd respondent to consider and dispose the petitioner's representations dated 10.09.2024 & 20.12.2024, and to restrain the 3 rd and 4 th respondents, from directly discharging the plastic mixture wastes and harmful chemicals into the nearby water bodies.

2.Mr.V.Manoharan, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for R1 and Mr.S.Arumugam takes notice for R2. 3.By consent of both the parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

4.The petitioner is the President of SIDCO Thozhilalargal Nala Sangam and also an agriculturist. The petitioner states that the 3 rd and 4 th respondents are running plastic grinding and mixture industries. Petitioner further states that the 3 rd and 4 th respondents are dumping the plastic and chemical wastes emanating from the said industries into the water bodies, which wastes ultimately flow into the Puzhal lake thereby polluting it. The petitioner states that because of the pollution caused by the 3 rd & 4 th respondent industries, the agricultural and fishing activities in the area are affected. The petitioner submitted multiple representations to the respondents, however, no action was taken. Therefore, the petitioner filed the above writ petition for the above said reliefs.

5.The facts are not disputed. The records reveal that the Assistant Director of Rural Panchayath Development, Thiruvallur, issued directions to the nd respondent on 24.12.2024, to conduct inspection and take action. Despite the directions of the Assistant Director, Rural Panchayat Development, the 2 nd respondent has not taken any action till date. Under the circumstances, this Court is inclined to direct the second respondent to conduct an inspection, as directed by the Assistant Director of Rural Panchayath Development, Thiruvallur, in his letter dated 24.12.2024, and thereafter, consider the petitioner's representations dated 10.09.2024 and 20.12.2024, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.With the aforesaid directions, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
