This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore to expedite the trial for speedy disposal of C.C.No.1706/2017 pending before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court for Exclusive Trial of CCB and CBI cases.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the first respondent.

3. It is stated by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor that there are 504 witnesses in this case, out of which, 64 witnesses have been examined so far.

4. Such view of the matter, this Court cannot grant any direction to the Trial Court to complete the trial within the time limit. However, the learned Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore is ensure to conduct the trial in C.C.No.1706 of 2017 expeditiously and strictly follow the provision under Section 309 of Cr.P.C.

5. With the above directions, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
