This writ petition has been filed seeking for issuance of writ of mandamus, to direct the respondents to provide police protection to the life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of his political rivals in and around Mallur Taluk, Salem District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 02.05.2018.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner; learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents and perused the material documents available on record.
3. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that the representations/complaints of the petitioner will be considered in accordance with law.
4. In the light of the limited scope of prayer sought for in this writ petition and the submissions made by the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents, this Court without going into the merits of the case, directs the second respondent to consider the representations/complaints of the petitioner dated 30.4.2016 and 02.05.2018 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after providing an opportunity to all the necessary parties, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
