THE HONOURABLE MR.JUSTICE K.RAVICHANDRABAABU Writ Petition No.17334 of 2017 and W.M.P.No.18841 of 2017 C.Jeyakumar ... Petitioner Vs.
1. The Director of Secondary Education, DPI Campus, College Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai - 600 006.
2. The Secretary, Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, No.162, Periyar E.V.R.High Road, Kilpauk, Chennai - 600 010.

... Respondents Prayer:
Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to extend the last date for submitting the filled in application of the petitioner's daughter Miss.J.T.Harini, bearing No.611774 till the receipt of mark statement of Special Supplementary Examination for Higher Secondary Classes June-July 2017 conducted by the first respondent after, published its results and to permit the petitioner's daughter to submit her above application after receipt of mark sheet of Special Supplementary Examination and to participate in the counseling of second respondent for the admission of MBBS Course 2017-2018 Session.
For Petitioner : Mr.T.P.Sekar For Respondents : Mr.A.Kumar Special Government Pleader, For R1
O R D E R
The petitioner seeks for a mandamus directing the second respondent to extent the last date for submitting the filled in application for selection to the MBBS Course.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the first respondent.
3. The grievance of the petitioner is that the result of the Special Supplementary Examination for Higher Secondary Classes, in which the petitioner's daughter has written the examination, is yet to be announced and therefore, till such result is declared, the last date for submitting the application for selection to the MBBS Course is to be extended.
4. I do not think that the petitioner is justified in making such request, as the schedule for selection to the said professional course has already commenced and is in progress. Simply because the petitioner's daughter did not get the result in the Special Supplementary Examination, she cannot seek for postponing the last date for submitting the filled in application. Therefore, I find that for the sake of the petitioner's inability to get the qualifying certificate, the last date for submitting the application for admission to the MBBS Course, cannot be extended as it would amount to meddling with the fixed schedule which is already in progress. Therefore, I consider this prayer as a farfetched one. Accordingly, this writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
