The petitioners/accused in Crime No.5 of 2025 registered for the offence under Section 85 BNS have filed this quash petition. 2.

The gist of the complaint is the matrimonial discord between the 1st petitioner and the de facto complainant's daughter owing to demand for dowry by the petitioners and the harassment meted out to the de facto complainant's daughter by the petitioners. 3.

The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the petitioners 2 and 3 had applied for Anticipatory bail before the Principal District and Sessions Court, Chennai in Crl.M.P. No. 7328 of 2025 after registration of the case in Crime No. 5 of 2025 on the complaint of the 2nd 2\8

respondent and during the pendency of the proceedings, the matter was referred to Mediation by order dated 13.08.2025. In the mediation, the disputes and differences between the parties were amicably resolved and a settlement agreement 09.02.2026 was entered into between the parties. The 1st petitioner and the de facto complainant's daughter also agreed to file a petition to dissolve their marriage by a decree of mutual consent and accordingly, a petition in O.P. No. 664 of 2026 seeking dissolution of marriage by mutual consent has been filed before the IV Additional Family Court, Chennai.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor also confirms that the matrimonial dispute between the 1st petitioner and the defacto complainant's daughter has been resolved by way of settlement agreement before the Principal District and Sessions Court, Chennai, in Crl.M.P. No. 7328 of 2025.

When the matter is taken up today, the 1st petitioner appeared through video conferencing. Petitioners 2 and 3 and the second respondent/de facto complainant appeared before this Court and were identified by their respective counsel.

Considering the submissions made and on perusal of the materials, it is seen that the matrimonial dispute between the 1st petitioner and the defacto complainant's daughter has been resolved through Mediation and the parties have entered into a Settlement Agreement dated 09.02.2026 before the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chennai in Crl.M.P.No. 7328 of 2026 and the same is scanned and reproduced hereunder: 4\8
