O R D E R
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to quash the case registered in Crime No.5 of 2022 on the file of The Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Mylapore, Chennai, first respondent, for the offences punishable under Sections 406, 498 (A), 506 (i) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
2. Facts of the case in a nutshell are as follows:- Marriage between the first petitioner and defacto complainant was solemnized on 6/2/2022. Post marriage, the first petitioner and defacto complainant began to reside in the house of the second and third petitioners, who are the father and mother of the first petitioner. Due to some difference of opinion, second respondent, lodged a complaint before the first respondent in Crime No.5 of 2022 for the offences punishable under Sections 406, 498 (A), 506 (i) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

3. Heard Mr.K.P.Anantha Krishna, learned counsel for the petitioners, Mr.A.Gokulakrishnan, learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the first respondent and Mrs.S.P.Arthi, learned counsel for the second respondent.
4. Today when the matter is taken up for hearing, petitioners and defacto complainant were present. All the parties were identified by their respective counsel and Police. Memorandum of Understanding, dated 21/4/2022 entered into between the parties, was produced before this Court.
5. On enquiry, the defacto complainant submitted that they have amicably settled the matter, outside the Court and prays this Court to quash F.I.R.in Crime No.5 of 2022, pending on the file of the first respondent.
6. A perusal of the Memorandum of Understanding would indicate that both the first petitioner and defacto complainant have arrived at an amicable settlement.
7. The learned counsel appearing for the first petitioner agreed to settle Rs.50,00,000/- (Rupees Fifty lakhs only), out of which Rs.25,00,000/- (Rupees Page No:3/6
Twenty five lakhs only) was paid by way of cheques bearing Nos.936710 and 936711 for Rs.12,50,000/- and 12,50,000/- respectively, drawn on Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai 69.
8. Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case, as the matter has been settled between the parties, this Court is inclined to quash all the proceedings emanating from F.I.R.No.5 of 2022, pending on the file of the Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Mylapore, Chennai, first respondent.
9. Accordingly, this Original Petition is allowed and F.I.R.No.5 of 2022, pending on the file of the Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Mylapore, Chennai, first respondent is quashed. Memorandum of Understanding, dated 21/4/2022, shall form part of the records.
