The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 02.04.2024 in Crime No.220 of 2023 registered for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 328 IPC and 24(1) of Cigarette & other Tobacco Product Act, 2003, seeks bail.

2. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He further submitted that he is no way connected with the alleged offence. He is ready to abide by any stringent conditions that may be imposed by this Court. Hence, he prayed for grant of bail to the petitioner.

3. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent police submitted that respondent has arrested the accused for illegally transporting 131 kgs of banned tobacco and 5 kgs of mawa products He further submitted that the second and third petitioners are still absconding. He further submitted that the investigation is not yet completed, therefore, he vehemently opposed to grant bail to the petitioner. T.V.THAMILSELVI,J.

4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) for the respondent and perused the entire materials available on record.

5. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) and also considering the gravity of the offence and the fact that this case needs detailed investigation, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
