Mr.R.Thirumoorthy For Respondent(s):

Mr.P.Elayarajkumar, Govt. Counsel for R1 to R4 Order This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to take action in the light of the communication dated 21.05.2025 bearing proceedings No. (Oo.Mu) Ji2/E3284275/2025 issued by the 1st respondent.

2. This Court posted a question as to how the interest of the petitioner is affected, to which, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that though personally his private interest may not be affected, as a citizen, he would think that the illegal fishing rights in lake and illegal sand mining activities needs to be curbed in a larger public interest. He would also submit that in response to his representation, the first respondent has in fact responded vide proceedings dated 21.05.2025. He would also submit that after having acted upon his representation, the first respondent does not proceed further taking the matter to its logical end.

3. This Court finds that this petition is more than in the nature of public interest litigation and therefore, it is only appropriate that the petition is filed by way of public interest litigation.

4. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. It is always open to the petitioner to file a public interest litigation against the illegal activity adversely affecting public interest. No costs.
