comprised in S.No.198/3 measuring land an extent of 0.62.50 ares situated at Dhanakondapalli Village, Gudiyatham Taluk, Vellore District which was acquired by the Government in the year 1997. For Petitioners :

(The case has been heard through video conference) The Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction directing the respondents to consider the petitioners' representation dated 12.04.2021 and issue free house site patta to the petitioners.
2. The grievance of the petitioners is that, they are belong to scheduled cast community. Earlier, for providing house site to the petitioners, the lands were acquired under the Act 31 of 1978 in the year 1997, subsequently, possession was also taken in the year 2000. Thereafter, no action has been taken for issuing free house site patta to the petitioners. Hence, they have made several representations to the authorities seeking free house site patta, but, so far, their representations were not considered and no order has been passed on it. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed by the petitioners.
3. Mr. R.Govindasamy, learned counsel appearing for petitioners would submit that, the possession was taken in the year 2000 and for more than 20 years, the respondents are not taking any steps to grant house site patta to the petitioners. Hence, the respondents may be directed to consider petitioners' representations and pass orders within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
4. Considering the limited prayer sought in the Writ Petition, without going into the merits of the case, the 7th respondent Special Tahsildar is directed to consider the petitioners' representations and to pass suitable orders on merits in accordance with law within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
