The latest compliance report perused. All the encroachments now stand removed, numbering 691. In respect of 4 encroachments, where the affected party had approached the High Court and were granted four months` time, even those persons are stated to have moved out to the alternative area for rehabilitation and it is stated that the small structure built by them also shall be removed. Photographs and plan of the area have been produced.
2. The only thing now left to be done is that the debris which is lying there should be removed. It is stated before us on instruction that the debris will be removed within two weeks. The other important aspect is to ensure that there is no re-encroachment in that area, for which the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department of that area shall remain personally responsible on the pain of contempt.
Learned counsel for the petitioner points out to us that there is also issue of strengthening of the bund. This work is stated to be in progress as also the removal of silt deposited in the water area of Perumpallam Dam, Surampatti Village, Erode for which applications have been invited through gazette notification. These tasks shall be completed within three months as per the statement of Mr.M.Jagadeesh, Assistant Engineer, Irrigation Section, Modakurrichi. The aforesaid time schedule to be adhered to. No further directions are required and we close the matter appreciating that finally action has been taken by the Public Works Department ensuring that the area is properly cleared and the land repossessed.
