Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to construct the Village Panchayat Office for Pikkili Village, Pennagaram Taluk, Dharmapuri District, at the Head Quarter village namely Pikkili Village itself as unanimously resolved by the Resolution dated 02.10.2021 of Grama Sabha meeting held on 02.10.2021 and by considering the petitioner's representation dated 13.04.2022.

ORDER

(Made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.R.Thamaraiselvan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.T.K.Saravanan, learned Government Advocate for respondent Nos.1 to 3.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the village panchayat office building has to be constructed in the Head Quarter village namely Pikkili village. However, the respondents are constructing it in another village. The same would cause hardship to the villagers. The Pikkili village is the centre place for all the villages under the Panchayat. The learned counsel further submits that the Grama Sabha has also passed a resolution and the resolution of the Grama Sabha ought to be respected.

3. The learned Government Advocate submits that the construction of the panchayat office at Gollapatti village is complete and has been inaugurated on 26.12.2023 and the same is functioning.

4. It would be in nobody's interest now to direct shifting of the panchayat office from the building erected specifically for it. The building is constructed in the village under the Grama Panchayat itself.

In light of that, the writ petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
