Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondent authorities to grant permission to conduct the Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival from 17.09.2015 to 23.09.2015 in a grand manner by erecting Vinayagar statue before the Mandavali Mel Theru Vinayagar Temple at river bank and provide police protection for procession for taking the Vinayakar statue in the lorry on 23.09.2015 at 10 A.M. by procession as per Hindus customs which is being followed time immemorial, with drums, music and celebrations through the usual routes being followed for the 19 years viz. Mel Theru, Kalkoodapatti, Bamandi Street, Solaiappachetti Street, Kammalar Street to Police Station and from there via Hosur Main Road, Palacode Bus stand to Tomato Market and finally dropping the statue in Hogenakkal River water.

Seeking permission to conduct Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival from 17.09.2015 to 23.09.2015, the petitioner made a representation dated 11.09.2015 to the 2nd respondent. On its non consideration, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

2.When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions, submitted that permission would be given to conduct Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival for three days from 17.09.2015. He also submitted that the route and timings for the procession will be fixed by the respondents. 3.The Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the respondents to give permission to conduct Vinayagar Chathurthi festival for a period of three days starting from 17.09.2015. It is for the respondents to fix the route, timings and regulate the procession. No costs.
