PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, pleased to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents two and three to grant permission to conduct the "Sree Maariyamman Kovil" temple festival in Paarappatti Periyur Olaipatti Village, Mettur Taluk, Salem District in accordance with the customary practice based on the representation dated 17.05.2022 given by the petitioner and others and further directing the fourth respondent to provide adequate police for the peaceful conduct of such temple festival in Paarapati Periyur.

O R D E R
The Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents 1 to 4 to pass orders on the representation of the petitioner dated 17.05.2022 and to grant permission and police protection to conduct the "Sree Maariyamman Kovil" temple festival in Paarappatti Periyur Olaipatti Village, Mettur Taluk,
2. It is the grievance of the petitioner that the respondents 5 to 14 are jointly trying to create law and order problem and trying to instigate riots
among the villagers and also intending to prevent the conduct of festival at Parappatti Periyur. It is the further grievance of the petitioner that despite the petitioner has given a representation to the respondents 1 to 4, no action has been taken. Hence, he seeks to grant permission and police protection to conduct the cultural programme peacefully and independently without any interference.
3. Mr.A.Gokulakrishnan, learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that the respondents 1 to 4 will consider the representation and pass orders on merits.
4. Heard the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 1 to 4.
5. Such view of the matter, the respondents 1 to 4 are directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.05.2022 and pass orders on merits. If there is any rival claim, the police is also directed to hear the other side before granting permission to the petitioner and take a call on it.
