O R D E R

The petitioner seeks for a mandamus directing the second respondent to issue a fresh passport to the petitioner having validity for a period of 10 years under Application No. MA1070791503517 dated 18.12.2017.

2. Heard Mr.P.Solomon Francis, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.T.V.Krishnamachari, learned Senior Panel Counsel for the second respondent.

3. It seems that the petitioner has filed an application for renewal of his passport on 18.12.2017. The grievance of the petitioner is that the said application has not been considered so far.

The learned Senior Panel Counsel appearing for the second respondent submitted that the said application will be considered and appropriate orders will be passed on merits and in accordance with law, within a time frame fixed by this Court. He further submitted that it is for the respondents, more particularly, the second respondent to consider the merits of the claim made by the petitioner.

5. Therefore, this Court, at this stage, is not going into the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, as the second respondent has not passed any order on the application made by the petitioner seeking for issuance of fresh passport. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of, only with a direction to the second respondent to consider the said application of the petitioner and pass order on merits and in accordance with law, after considering the report of the first respondent, within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
