This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the first and second respondents police to give police protection on the date of temple functions to be held from 02.06.2019 to 06.06.2019 at the Sri Vetrivel Murugan Temple, Panichamedu Village, Marakkanam Taluk, Villupuram District by considering the representation dated 17.05.2019.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents.
3.The petitioner claims to have a right over conducting the poojas in the Sri Muthalamman Alaya Utsava Palsagai Varthal and Sri Vetrivel Murugan Vel pooja Festival. According to the petitioner, the entire villagers are in support except of one family, who are against. He has also made a representation to the second respondent and no action has been taken by the official respondents. Hence, the petitioner seeks police protection for the temple festival scheduled to be held from 02.06.2019 to 06.06.2019.
4. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents would submit that today only the current papers have been received and they have to conduct enquiry and after enquiry only, the ground realities would be known.
5. Be that as it may, the respondent police are bound to see that no untoward incident happens and to maintain law and order during the temple festival.
6. With the above observation, this Criminal Original Petition is closed.
