Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to fix the seniority of the petitioners (joining date 04.09.2019) along with Sub-Inspector of Police (Finger Print) Recruitment 2018 candidates (joining date 04.03.2019) as per Rule 25(a) of Special Rules for Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service as amended by G.O.(Ms)No.67 dated 10.02.2021 based on the petitioners' representations dated 14.02.2022, 24.11.2022 and 27.03.2023 within the time frame fixed by this Hon'ble Court.

WMP No.14547 of 2023 filed seeking permission to file a single Writ Petition is ordered on payment of separate Court fee.

2. Ms.Mythraye Chandru, learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice for the respondents and is armed with instructions to enable final disposal of this matter even at the stage of admission.

3. The prayer of the nine petitioners before me is for a mandamus directing the first respondent, being the State of Tamil Nadu, Additional Principal Secretary, Home Department to fix the seniority of the petitioners along with Sub-Inspector of Police (Recruitment) 2018 candidates, as per Rule 25 (a) of Special Rules for Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service as amended by G.O.(Ms).No.67 dated 10.02.2021.

4. The petitioners have raised the same request vide several representations filed on 14.02.2022, 24.11.2022 and 27.03.2023.

5. Upon instructions, Ms.Mythraye would submit that the proposal for fixation of seniority as sought for by the petitioners is already under consideration before R1 and that necessary orders will be passed within a period of one (1) month. A memo dated 10.05.2023 is also filed to this effect which reads as follows:

The above matter came up for hearing before the Hon'ble Court on today i.e., 10.05.2023 and based on the oral instructions received by me from the concerned official. I had represented before your Lordships that the representation of the petitioners would be considered within a period of 4 weeks from the date of receipt of copy of the order. Your Lordship had recorded the same and had asked me to file a memo to that effect. Upon verification, I am informed that the officials would take necessary steps as expeditiously as possible. I am filing a memo to that effect. I kindly request your Lordships to accept this memo as part of the record and dispose of the writ petition recording that a decision would be taken by the concerned officials as expeditiously as possible and thus render justice.

6. In light of the undertaking that is given by R1, which is recorded under this order, the prayer of the petitioners stands accomplished.
