Mr.N.Srinivasan, learned Additional Government Pleader, accepts notice for the respondents. By consent of the learned counsel for both sides, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2. The petitioner is working as a Special Sub-Inspector of Police on and from 01.03.2011. His grievance is that, one of his junior Mr.M.Janakiraman, who was similarly situated like the petitioner herein, was advanced to the post of Grade-I Police Constable to 07.02.1992 and as a consequence, his promotion as Head Constable was advanced to 04.03.1992 and selection grade was given to him with effect from 04.03.2002, vide the order of the second respondent dated 15.12.2009. Since the petitioner is also similarly placed, he prayed for conferment of the same benefit. In this regard, he has submitted representations dated 10.01.2012 and 31.08.2015 to the respondents. Since no orders have been passed, the petitioner has come forward to file this writ petition.

This Court, taking into consideration the limited scope of the prayer sought for by the petitioner and considering the facts and circumstances of the case and without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner, hereby directs the second respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 31.08.2015 in accordance with law, after putting on notice to the persons concerned and pass appropriate orders within a period of ten weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken to the petitioner as well as the persons concerned.
