ORDER
The Writ Petition is filed seeking a mandamus to direct the respondent herein to provide the exact status of the petitionerSociety and produce the records relating to the registration status of the petitioner-Society.

The learned counsel for the respondent, after taking notice, has sent a communication directly to the learned counsel for the petitioner in R.C.No.799/E1/2020, dated 02.11.2020, wherein, it has been stated as follows:- "With reference to your letter cited above, I am
to state that your letter was received on 21.01.2020 and action was taken immediately to search whether any society by name American Baptist Foreign Mission Society is registered in this office.
As the registration number and year of the society has not been mentioned in your letter, the search took lot of time and finally it was found that no such society is registered in this office. But the file relating to your letter has been misplaced in the COVID-19 lockout period and hence it could not be informed to you that no such society is registered in this office. But on receipt of your affidavit filed by you in Writ Petition 15533 of 2020 in the High Court of Madras, it was noticed that you have mentioned the registration number and year of the society is 78/1977. The name of Society with registration No.78/1977 was verified with the record and it is found that the name of the society with registration No.78/1977 is "Sylvau Lodge Colony Welfare Association".
Hence it is informed that the Society by name "American Baptist Foreign Mission Society" has not been registered in this office and you may apply to District Registrar, Central Chennai and District Registrar, South Chennai."

The above mentioned letter specifically mentions that the name of the petitioner, viz. "American Baptist Foreign Mission Society" has not been registered with the respondent and the same is recorded.

In view of the same, the Writ Petition is closed. However, it is open to the petitioner to apply before the Office of the District Registrar, Central Chennai and District Registrar, South Chennai to know the particulars, that are required by the petitioner. No costs.
