This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to grant permission and protection to conduct cultural programme (Dance and Music Programme) of Sri Draupathiamman Temple Festival in the Pasumbalur Post, Veppanthatai Taluk, Perambalur District by considering the petitioner representation dated on 26.05.2019, scheduled to be held on 01.06.2019 from 7.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents.
3.The petitioner claims to be the Darmakartha, appointed by the villagers for the temple of Sri Draupathiamman Temple in the Pasumbalur Post, Veppanthatai Taluk, Perambalur District. The Temple function has to be held on 31.05.2019 and 01.06.2019. The https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
petitioner seeks police protection to conduct the cultural programme in connection with the temple festival.
4. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submits that there is apprehension of communal problem.
5. The learned counsel for the petitioner vehemently opposed the same, stating that there is no such communal problem or disharmony existing in the village. In fact, the entire village has elected him as the Darmakartha of the temple with the cooperation and inclusion of everyone in the village. The festival is being conducted peacefully and in harmony every year. He further submits that this year also with the same harmony, the function would be conducted and personally undertakes that everyone in the village are included in the festival and no disharmony has been created between the villagers. Further he states that the petitioner would extend his full cooperation to the 2nd respondent in maintaining the peaceful law and order during conduct of the temple festival.
7. With the above observation, this Criminal Original Petition is closed.
