..Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking for a writ of mandamus directing the 1st respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner submitted on 26.02.2015 requesting for retiral benefits and pension payable to the petitioner with arrears from the date of petitioner's resignation on 08.07.1986.

By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner was appointed as Associate Lecturer in the services of the 1st respondent on 01.07.1966 and he served in that capacity between that date and 30.04.1967. The petitioner was again appointed as Associate Lecturer on 26.06.1967 by the 1st respondent and later on, got promoted to the post of Lecturer on 10.01.1979 and further, as Assistant Professor on 17.09.1981. The petitioner applied for study leave and done his Ph.D., at Indian Institution of Technology, Kharagpur, between 27.06.1975 and 09.01.1979. The petitioner would further state that by the proceedings of the 1st respondent dated 30.11.1984, the petitioner was deputed to the Church of South India Polytechnic, Salem from 01.12.1884 to 31.05.1986 and

he resigned the post on 08.07.1986 and it was accepted and he was relieved on the same day. The grievance now expressed by the petitioner is that though he served for more than 20 years in the services of the 1st respondent, his pensionary benefits are yet to be disbursed. In this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 26.02.2015 to the 1st respondent and since no orders have been passed, he came forward to file this writ petition.

3. Heard the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.R.Vijayakumar, learned Additional Government Pleader who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

4. This Court, taking into consideration the limited scope of prayer sought for by the petitioner, directs the 1st respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 24.02.2015 on merits and in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken to the petitioner.
