Respondents Prayer:- This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking for a Writ of Mandamus i) to direct the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.01.2022, 12.04.2022 & 05.05.2022 for extension of his service as Associate Professor in the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of the University of Madras till 31st of March 2025 and ii) to further direct the respondents to engage the petitioner as Associate Professor in the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of the University of Madras till a decision is taken by the respondents on the petitioner's representation dated 20.01.2022, 12.04.2022 and 05.05.2022 and iii) to pass any other or further orders as this Court may deem fit and proper.

ORDER
The petitioner has filed this petition to direct the first respondent to consider his representations dated 20.01.2022, 12.04.2022 & 05.05.2022 for extension of his service as Associate Professor in the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of the University of Madras till 31st of March 2025.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was appointed as a Reader, which is now re-designated as Associate Professor, in the third respondent College/ UGCHuman Resource Development Centre, on 26.11.2018. It is a tenure appointment, which ended on 31.03.2012. Subsequently, his tenure was extended twice, i.e., i) from 01.04.2012 to 31.03.2017 and ii) from 01.04.2017 to 31.03.2022. The petitioner's tenure as Associate Professor of the said College came to end on 31.03.2022. Hence, he made a representation dated 20.01.2022 to the second respondent to extend his service as Associate Professor for another period of three years. Subsequently, on 12.04.2022 and 05.05.2022 also, the petitioner made representations, but the same have not been considered. Though relieving order has not been issued, he was orally informed not to attend the Office from 03.04.2022. Hence, the present petition.
3. The Standing counsels appearing for the respondents submitted that the representations of the petitioner are pending with the first respondent and the same will be considered in accordance with law.
4. Considering the facts of the case and the limited scope of the prayer sought for in the Writ Petition, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 05.05.2022 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after providing necessary opportunity to the petitioner, as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above directions, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
