ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for direction directing the respondents 1 & 2 to accommodate the petitioners by absorbing their service in other institutions of the Government in regular scale of pay. 2.

The petitioners were appointed as Assistant Project Officer under the Mahalir Thittam of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 26.09.2007. Thereafter, they were engaged in various posts and finally they were given employment in the Tamil Nadu Costal Sustainable Livelihood Society by an order dated 12.02.2021, on consolidated salary and on contract basis for the period of one year. Since they were not given permanent post, the petitioners filed by the present petition with the above prayer.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submitted that similarly placed persons approached this Court in W.P.No.12887 of 2016 & W.P.(MD).No.10508 of 2022. This Court directed the respondents to continue the petitioner's service and wherever the employment, the same may be extended as far as possible. Hence, he prayed to allow this Writ Petition. 4.

Heard, the learned counsel appearing appearing on either side and perused the materials placed before this Court. 5.

This Court has granted interim injunction restraining the respondents from dis-engaging the petitioners by an order dated 22.04.2022. However, the petitioners were not given any employment. Therefore, the petitioners filed a contempt petition in Cont.P.No. 3717 of 2024 and this Court by an order dated 12.03.2025 dismissed the Contempt Petition on the ground that the project itself viz., Tamil Nadu Costal Sustainable Livelihood Society, came to an end. Further, the petitioners refused to accept the appointment on contract basis for consolidated salary. After completion of the project, they were disengaged from service long back. That apart, they were not appointed in a proper channel and as such the request made by the

petitioners for being absorbed in the regular time scale of pay in any one of the Government institutions cannot be considered. Hence, the Writ Petition is itself devoid of merits and is liable to be dismissed. 6.

With the above directions, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
