O R D E R

This writ Petition has been filed for a Mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondent to forthwith grant electricity service connection in the name of the petitioner for his house bearing Door No.19, Cantonment Quarters, Cantonment Pallavaram, Chennai - 600 043, based on the petitioner's application dated 03.02.2022.

2. The petitioner claims that he is in possession of the aforementioned property. He also contends that his neighbours who are similarly placed have already got electricity service connection. The petitioner has submitted an application on 03.02.2022 with the respondent seeking for grant of electricity service connection in his name. Since the application has not been considered till date, he has filed this writ petition for a Mandamus seeking to direct the respondent to forthwith grant electricity service connection in his name.

3. Mr.L.Jaivenkatesh,learned Standing Counsel for TANGEDCO, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.

4. In the typed set of papers, the orders by which, the neighbours of the petitioner have got electricity service connection is enclosed. In respect of similarly placed persons, this Court in its earlier orders had directed the respondents to accept Indemnity bond and undertaking from those petitioners and according to the petitioner, he should also be granted the very same relief. It is for the respondent to consider the petitioner's application on merits and in accordance with law, after affording a fair hearing to the petitioner. No prejudice would be caused to the respondent, if the petitioner's application seeking for grant of electricity service connection in his name for the aforementioned property is considered on merits and in accordance with law, after affording a fair hearing to the petitioner.

For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 03.02.2022 seeking for grant of electricity service connection in his name for his property bearing No.19, Cantonment Quarters, Cantonment Pallavaram, Chennai - 600 043, and pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording a fair hearing including granting him the right of personal hearing, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the aforesaid direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
