Thangavel bearing Convict No.17420 (PID No.344070) confined at Central Prison, Cuddalore and pass such further or other orders as this Honorable Court may deem fit to the circumstances of the case and thus render justice. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by Dr.Anita Sumanth J.) The petitioner, wife of one Rajendran, a life convict, presently confined in Central Prison, Cuddalore, has filed this Writ Petition challenging order dated 26.08.2025 only to the extent to which it grants leave to the convict with escort.

2. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who accepts notice for the respondents, on instructions, does not have any serious objection to the modification of the condition under impugned order dated 26.08.2025 and states that the condition may be modified to a direction to the convict to appear before the jurisdictional police station every day.

3. Accordingly, impugned order dated 26.08.2025, to the extent to which an escort has been provided, is set aside and ordinary leave of 21 days without escort is granted, though on the following conditions:

(i) Respondents are directed to release the Convict Prisoner viz., Rajendran, S/o.Thangavel, confined at Central Prison, Cuddalore on Ordinary Leave for a period of 21 days i.e., from 28.04.2026 to 18.05.2026.

(ii) The Convict Prisoner shall be released on 28.04.2026 at 10.00 am and he shall surrender before the Central Prison, Cuddalore on 19.05.2026 before 10.00 a.m.

(iii) The Convict Prisoner is directed to report before the Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Chidambaram district every day at 4.00 p.m., during the period of leave. (iv) The Convict Prisoner shall utilize the leave only for the ground on which it has been granted and shall not indulge in any other activities.

4. This Writ Petition is allowed to the above extent. Connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
