Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant annual increment to the petitioner for the post of Plate Processor w.e.f the date of his appointment i.e. 31.01.1994 with 12% interest for the arrears within the time limit fixed by this Honourable Court. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal. 2.The petitioner was appointed as Machine Minder in the office of the second respondent on 20.08.1991 and his services were regularised on 01.07.1992. A circular was issued on 19.11.1992 inviting application for filling up vacancy to the post of "Plate Processor". The petitioner vide proceedings of the second respondent dated 31.01.1994 was promoted to the said post and he was also intimated regarding the fixation of pay and it was also issued by the second respondent on 21.04.2005 and the first respondent vide G.O.(D) No.171, News and Tourism Department, dated 27.11.2006 has issued proceedings regarding grant of increment. expressed by the petitioner is that he has not been conferred with the annual increment with effect from the date of promotion as Plate Processor on 31.01.1994 and in this regard has submitted representations dated 01.03.2011 and 12.11.2014 to the respondents 1 and 2 and since no orders have been passed, came forward to file this writ petition.

3.Heard the submissions of Mr.M.Vijayakumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.N.Srinivasan, learned Additional Government Pleader who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. 4.Though the petitioner prayed for a larger relief, this Court in the light of the facts and circumstances and without going into the merits of the same, directs the respondents 1 and 2 to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representations dated 01.03.2011 and 12.11.2014 on merits and in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner. 5.The writ petition is disposed of accordingly.
