ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to quash the proceedings in C.C.No.37 of 2015 on the file of the XIV Additional Special Judge for CBI Cases, Chennai.

The learned Special Public Prosecutor (CBI Cases) appearing for the respondent submitted that the prosecution has already examined P.W.1 to P.W.24 and that the only remaining witness to be examined is the Investigating Officer.

Having regard to the fact that the trial has substantially progressed and that only the Investigating Officer remains to be examined, this Court is of the view that the prayer for quashing the proceedings at this advanced stage cannot be entertained. Therefore, this Criminal Original Petition is liable to be dismissed and accordingly the same is dismissed. However, the Trial Court is directed to complete the trial within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
