... Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issuance of Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, calling for the records relating to the petitioner's candidature rejection order dated 16.04.2025 issued by the second respondent herein, quash the same and consequently issued direction to the second respondent herein to permit the petitioner to contest the 2025-2026 election for the post of Secretary in the Kanchipuram Bar Association, Kanchipuram.
For Petitioner : Mr.G.Magesh Kumar For R1 : Mr.C.K.Chandrasekar
ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by M.S.RAMESH, J.) Heard Mr.G.Magesh Kumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.C.K.Chandrasekar, learned counsel appearing for the first respondent. In view of the final order to be passed in this petition, notice to the respondents 2 to 5 herein, is dispensed with.
2. Though the name of the petitioner finds place in the list maintained by Kanchipuram Bar Association, the learned counsel appearing for the first respondent/Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, on verification, would submit that the petitioner is a registered voter before the Women Lawyers' Association, Chennai.
3. Hence, we do not find any infirmity or illegality in the impugned order dated 16.04.2025, rejecting the petitioner's nomination on the ground that her name does not find place in the valid voters' list of Kanchipuram Bar Association, since she is a registered voter in the Women Lawyers' Association of Chennai.
4. In view of the above, the Writ Petition stands dismissed. No costs. Connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. [M.S.R, J.] [N.S, J.] 24.04.2025 Index: Yes/No Speaking order/Non-speaking order Sni
