ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) This writ petition is directed against the illegal quarrying of gravel from the poramboke lands in Vaniamalli Village in Gummidipoondi Taluk, Tiruvallur District.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that for removal of gravel valuable trees are cut down. According to the petitioner, despite objections and also agitations by the villagers and farmers of Vaniamalli and Thanippondi villages, illegal extraction of gravel continues.
According to petitioner, the petitioner being an office bearer of the Farmers' Association of Tiruvallur District has made representations, the last of which was made on 19.05.2017. It is the grievance of the petitioner that the said representation dated 19.05.2017 has not been acted upon.
3. After hearing the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of respondents 1 to 4, we dispose of the writ petition by directing the District Collector, Tiruvallur being respondent No.1 to consider the representation dated 19th May, 2017 of the petitioner and if necessary take action thereon in accordance with law at the earliest. The petitioner shall serve fresh copy of the representation along with the copy of the writ petition and the typed set of papers to the District Collector, Tiruvallur/respondent No.1 within one week from date. No costs.
